PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-cooled engine capable of suppressing decline in cooling efficiency of a cylinder head. SOLUTION: In this air-cooled engine, a fan case is provided in a front part of a cylinder block 1, and an airflow passage 3 is provided backwardly from the fan case. The airflow passage 3 is arranged along a peripheral wall of the cylinder head 4, and a muffler main body 5a of an exhaust muffler 5 is arranged above the cylinder head 4. An exhaust gas introducing pipe 5b is downwardly derived from the muffler main body 5a, and a derived end part 5c of the exhaust gas introducing pipe 5b is mounted on a rear face of the cylinder head 4. The exhaust gas introducing pipe 5b is made to face to a rear air-exhaust port 3a of the airflow passage 3 from the rear side, and a pipe cover 6 is mounted on a rear side of the exhaust gas introducing pipe 5b.
