PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell culture apparatus designed to afford cells in a necessary amount in a necessary period. SOLUTION: The cell culture apparatus is composed as follows. The apparatus is equipped with a database part 13 for storing the specific growth rate related to the species of cells and culture conditions when the specific growth rate is obtained, an input part 11 for inputting the necessary number of cells and necessary period, a cell culture part 3, an image data preparing part 7 for photographing the culture conditions of the cells with a camera 35 and preparing an image data, a culture solution feeding and discharging part 5 for feeding and discharging the culture solution from a culture vessel 1 and a control part 9 having each of functions to calculate the specific growth rate based on the initial number of the cells when the culture is started, the necessary number of the cells and necessary period, select the proximate specific growth rate from the database part 13 based on the calculated specific growth rate and species of the cells to be cultured, obtain information about the culture conditions corresponding to the selected specific growth rate and control operation of an incubator 3, the culture solution feeding and discharging part 5, etc., based on the obtained information about the culture conditions.
