METHOD OF ANALYZING C-TERMINAL AMINO ACID SEQUENCE OF PEPTIDE

A peptide to be analyzed is selectively and successively decomposed with the use of an alkanoic anhydride (S101). A series of the decomposition products involving the starting peptide and a peptide lacking one or more amino acids in the C-terminal side are subjected to a post treatment (S102). Then the molecular weight of each reaction product is measured by mass spectroscopy (S103). Based on the molecular weights obtained by the mass spectroscopy, the amino acid sequence of the starting peptide is determined from the C-terminus (S104).
