<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte composition a fuel cell having a well-balanced water repellent structure and hydrophilic structure, exerting high performance when used for the fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The electrolyte composition is a block copolymer of a vinyl monomer and dialkylsiloxane containing a polymeric electrolyte material, in which an ion-exchangeable proton conductive group is introduced. Namely, a segment originated in the vinyl monomer having a proton conductive group forms a hydrophylic structure, and a segment originated in dialkylsiloxane forms a water repellent structure, so that the hydrophylic property and water repellent property are well balanced. Further, as fluorine element is not used, the electrolyte composition is manufactured without using any specific method or device, and low cost is realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
