<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling efficiency of an outdoor heat exchanger by further improving cooling efficiency in comparison with a conventional method of cooling the outdoor heat exchanger with air from a blower. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of cooling a first heat exchanger of an air conditioner having a compressor 1, the first heat exchanger 2 for cooling a compressed refrigerant by radiating heat through heat exchange, an expansion mechanism 3, a second heat exchanger 4 for vaporizing the expanded refrigerant, and circulating piping 5, air containing mist-like moisture 7 is supplied to the surface of the first heat exchanger 2 to cool the refrigerant by the latent heat of vaporization of the mist-like moisture 7. An air temperature is thereby lowered by the latent heat of vaporization caused by the vaporization of partial mist-like moisture 7, and the mist-like moisture containing the temperature lowered air is supplied to the surface of the first heat exchanger 2 to cool the first heat exchanger 2 by the latent heat of vaporization of the mist-like moisture.
