PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for a refrigerator attaining efficient operation without waste, and operation control of high accuracy on the refrigerator provided with an inverter driving circuit. SOLUTION: The refrigerator 10 with a refrigerating cycle composed of a compressor 11 for compressing a refrigerant, a condenser 12 for condensing the compressed refrigerant to liquefy it, a throttle mechanism 13 and an evaporator 14 for vaporizing the liquefied refrigerant by evaporation to produce cold water by heat exchange, is provided with the inverter driving circuit 31 for supplying a motor 15 for driving the compressor 11, with variable frequency AC power from a commercial power source, a bypass circuit 32 bypassing the inverter driving circuit to supply the motor with power directly from the commercial power source, and a switching device 33 for switching the inverter driving circuit and the bypass circuit.
