PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of an image recorder for recording an image on a recording medium S having a punched binding hole that the binding hole and a recording image are not aligned with a desired relative position when the recording medium S is loaded to a recording medium containing means 2 with incorrect orientation. SOLUTION: The image recorder comprising an image recording head 1, a recording medium containing means 2, and a recording medium carrying means 3 is further provided with a means 6 for detecting the position of a binding hole h formed in a recording medium S arranged on the upstream side of the recording position of the image recording head 1 in the carrying direction on the recording medium carrying passage of the recording medium carrying means 3, and an image recording control means 9 for controlling the image data to be aligned with the orientation of the recording medium S by judging the orientation of the recording medium S being fed from the recording medium containing means 2 based on detection information from the detecting means 6.
