Thermal fuse for electric motors

The thermal fuse has a thermally deformable pin (18) retained between two electrical contacts (12,14). The pin gets softened and deformed during high temperature condition causing a helical spring (16) to disengage the contacts to interrupt the power circuit. The thermally deformable pin is cylindrical and made of a plastic material or metal. The spring is a compression spring helical and electrically conductive arranged between the two contacts. The first contact of the fuse has a shouldered portion to provide a stop for the spring. Both the contacts have terminal lugs adapted for use with a spade connector. The opening at the second contact is partially unbounded. One of the contacts includes a mounting member to mount the fuse on the electrical motor to be protected.
