<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly measure the conveyance rate of oncoming sheet on a conveyor all the time. <P>SOLUTION: The image inspection device inspects a formed image by reading an image formed on oncoming sheet 16 on the conveyor. That is, in the method for inspecting an image, an encoder roller 51 is installed on a conveyance path for the sheet 16 and the sheet conveyance rate is calculated based on the number of pulses detected by the encoder roller 51. On the other hand, a sensor 54 is coaxially mounted with the encoder roller 51 and a change in the roller diameter due to the thermal expansion of the encoder roller 51 following a temperature rise can be monitored from the comparative reference results by comparatively referring to the sheet conveyance rate calculated by the measurement results of the sensor 54 and the sheet conveyance rate calculated by an encoder mechanism 50.
