PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart good flame retardance without using a halogen flame retardant, an antimony compound, etc., and to further maintain excellent dielectric characteristics, heat resistance, etc., in a polyphenylene ethereal resin composition. SOLUTION: A flame-retardant resin composition comprises (A) a polyphenylene ethereal resin, (B) a cross-linking agent, (C) a phosphorus compound functioning as a flame retardant and (D) a silicone compound as essential components without essentially containing a halogen element. The phosphorus compound of the component (C) is contained in an amount within the range of 1-40 pts.mass based on the total amount of 100 pts.mass of the component (A) and the component (B). The silicone compound of the component (D) is contained in an amount within the range of 1-80 pts.mass based on the total amount of 100 pts.mass of the component (A) and the component (B).
