PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an amide compound having thixotropy providing effect. SOLUTION: The amide compound represented by general formula (1) (A is a phenylene group or a cyclohexylene group; X1and X2are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 12-22C acyl group) is obtained by reacting an amino compound represented by a specific chemical structural formula with a fatty acid and/or a fatty acid ester.
