PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device for a vehicle capable of informing a user of existence of the obstacle 6 at the timing meeting the feeling of the user. SOLUTION: The obstacle detection device for the vehicle is provided with a supersonic sensor 1; a control device 2 having a distance operation part 11, a determination part 12 and a memory 13; an a buzzer 3. The device is also provided with a setting change switch 4; and an IG sensor 5. Further, a preparation state instruction part 14, a setting change instruction part 15 and a setting change part 16 are provided on the control device 2. Then, in the state where the setting change switch 4 is pressed, the setting change instruction signal of the preparation state instruction part 14 is changed from HI to LOW and a signal of LOW is inputted to the setting change instruction part 15 and a signal in which an ignition switch is OFF is inputted from the IG sensor 5, a determination threshold value previously stored in the memory 13 is changed to a distance from the supersonic sensor 1 to the obstacle for the case when the ignition switch is turned OFF.
