Rotation elements (10) of printing machine (16) contains encoder (18) generating first periodical signal during element rotation. Encoder is coupled to evaluator (24), containing at least one synthesizer. Synthesizer generates second signal with resolution and frequency and phase relationships to first signal. Preferably evaluator includes control interface for data exchange, so that resolution etc. relationship of first and second signal are adjustable, or selectable in relation to transmitted data for synthesizer. Independent claims are included for folding mechanism of offset printing machine and offset printing machine.
