METHOD OF RESUMING HEADER DECOMPRESSION IN MULTIMEDIA BROADCAST/MULTICAST SERVICE SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing a failure of header decompression in a terminal moving between cells that share the same PDCP entity in an MBMS system.

SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method of resuming header decompression by a terminal in a communication system for providing multimedia broadcast/multicast service(MBMS), and the method includes the steps for: allowing the terminal receiving an MBMS, to move from the previous cell to the new cell; suspending header decompression until receiving a dynamic part initialization, and updating (IR-DYN) packet for header decompression of packet data for the MBMS before resuming header decompression in the new cell; updating the header decompression context used in the previous cell using the IR-DYN packet upon receipt of the IR-DYN packet; and performing the header decompression of the packet data for an MBMS received from the new cell using the updated header decompression context.
