<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining a high definition color image by promptly recovering the linearity of outputted image density to an image signal. <P>SOLUTION: Regarding the image forming apparatus provided with an image carrier, an electrifying means, a latent image forming means and a plurality of developing means for developing a latent image for the image and forming a toner image for the image, and wherein light color toner is packed in at least one of the plurality of the developing means, and dark color toner is packed in at least one of the remaining developing means, and the light color toner and the dark color toner are mixed in accordance with an image level, the apparatus is provided with a 1st mode of performing image formation by using all the developing means and a 2nd mode of performing image formation by using some of the plurality of the developing means, and a means for determining the electrified amount of the toner, and the mixture ratio is made variable based on the detection result by the toner electrification determining means with reference to the developing means which is not operated at the 2nd mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
