PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate metadata with a time code corresponding to a sound even when caption data are deviated from the sound or a video.

SOLUTION: For example, a start time t2of image data including display selection caption data corresponding to the sound "This is the seven o'clock news" is delayed from a time t1when the sound of "This is the seven o'clock news" is started in actual broadcast by a timeΔt1required for producing text data. For example, let a range which the delay timeΔt can take be 5 seconds to 15 seconds, then an information processing apparatus detects the sound waveform of the sound data supplied earlier by 5 seconds to 15 seconds from the start position of the text data, compares the start position and end position of the sound waveform with the start position and end position of the text data, respectively calculates a delay time of the start position and the end position of the corresponding display selection caption data on the basis of the result of the comparison and generates the time code on the basis of a present time. The information processing apparatus or the like is applicable to metadata generating servers.
