PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron oxide-based yellow pigment containing no harmful material to human body/ environment and having excellent weather resistance/heat resistance and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The iron oxide-based yellow pigment is manufactured by firing Al-substituted Zn ferrite having a structure of Zn(Fe<SB>(1-x)</SB>Al<SB>x</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>(where 0<x<1) at 500-1,400°C.
