PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting furnace equipped with an insulation material structure capable of securely preventing insulation defect caused by an object attached between an electrode and an insulation material and eliminating the insulation defect quickly even in the case where side current is generated as the attached object is accumulated. SOLUTION: In the electric melting furnace, the electrode is inserted and supported at an upper part of a furnace main body and an insulation sleeve 10 for preventing conduction caused by attachment of the attached object which is generated as vaporized material floating in the furnace is cooled and deposited is provided with a gap 15 at a furnace through part of the electrode. A heat receiving space A for receiving radiation heat from inside of the furnace is provided by widening a lower side of the gap 15 in a tapered shape or a stepped shape and the insulation sleeve 10 is formed so that an upper part of the insulation sleeve is made as a low temperature range by heat transfer from outside of the furnace and the lower side as a high temperature range by the heat receiving space A. Thus, the low temperature range is made to be a temperature range where insulation property of the attached object is maintained and the high temperature range is made to be a temperature range where the attached object melts and flows down.
