PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier tape and a chip type electronic component carrier using the same, which can sufficiently resolve the phenomenon of run-out from a carrier tape occurring in various shaped chip type electronic components. SOLUTION: The carrier tape which stores a chip type electronic component is such that the inner volume of its pocket portion is 140 to 250 as opposed to the volume of the electronic component being 100. Furthermore, the area of the pocket opening portion of the carrier tape which stores the chip type electronic component is preferably 140 to 230 as opposed to the area of the surface, opposite the pocket opening portion, of the electronic component being 100. The carrier tape under this invention is made of thermoplastic resin and its surface resistance value is preferably 10<SP>11</SP>Ωor lower. In the meantime, the chip type electronic component carrier under this invention is such that a cover tape is heat-sealed on the upper surface of the carrier tape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
