A finger print verifying finger print image input device (3), wherein, in association with a light guide (3c) of a transparent material having a finger print detection surface to place the finger print of a finger to be verified thereon and having a light receiving element (3a) receive via a micro-lens (3b) an incident light (a) coming from a light source (3d) and reflected off the above finger print detection surface (3e), a light incident surface (3f) at which light from the light source (3d) enters is kept almost perpendicular to the optical axis (d) of the light source (3d), and incident angle of the incident light (a) with respect to the finger print detection surface (3e) in the light guide is set to an angle that causes a reflection light and an irregular light, thereby it is possible to eliminate problems with a reflection light method and a total reflection light method in an optical method.
