<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and inexpensively update a control program of an image forming apparatus body. <P>SOLUTION: After a toner cartridge is loaded, a CPU of a wireless communication device of a laser printer body reads update information, a plurality of update programs and a printer body discriminating number from an EEPROM of a wireless communication member attached to the toner cartridge and outputs them to a CPU of a central control part of the laser printer body. The CPU of the central control part judges whether performing the selection of the update program and the update of the control program or not, based on the plurality of update programs, the update information and the printer body discriminating number which are read from the EEPROM of the wireless communication member, and the information from the EEPROM of the central control part. When it is judged that the control program of the central control program is rewritten to the update program and is updated, a message is displayed on an operation panel.
