POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell with a large reaction area and exerting high discharge performance.

SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte fuel cell is provided with: a hydrogen-ion conductive polymer electrolyte film; an anode as well as a cathode pinching the hydrogen-ion conductive polymer electrolyte film; an anode-side conductive separator having a gas flow channel supplying fuel gas to the anode; and a cathode-side conductive separator having a gas flow channel supplying oxidant gas to the cathode. The anode and the cathode are each composed of a gas diffusion layer and a catalyst layer formed at a side of the gas diffusion layer contacting the hydrogen-ion conductive polymer electrolyte film, and the catalyst layer comprises a layer consisting of catalyst particles and the hydrogen-ion conductive polymer electrolyte not contacting the hydrogen-ion conductive polymer electrolyte film.
