PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector easily applicable even to a line type ink jet printer in which ejection stability can be enhanced through smooth combination with cleaning technology while preventing incomplete ejection by removing bubbles in the ink, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: An ink jet printer comprising a nozzle sheet 17 provided with a nozzle 18, and an ink channel 21 communicating with all ink liquid chambers 12 commonly is further provided with a means for removing bubbles by sucking ink containing bubbles in the ink channel 21 from other than the nozzle 18, a cleaning means for removing adhering matters by touching a cleaning roller 31 to the liquid ejection surface of the nozzle sheet 17, and a control means for operating the bubble removing means and the cleaning means wherein the control means operates the bubble removing means and the cleaning means periodically.
