PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize or enhance liquid ejection performance for individual ejection objects by enhancing cleaning effect of a liquid ejection nozzle without damaging the liquid ejection surface of a liquid ejection head. SOLUTION: At the time of starting operation for ejecting liquid toward an ejection object, a cap member 21 is opened and the liquid ejection surface 22 is wiped by moving a cleaning member 24 while touching the liquid ejection surface 22. After moving the cleaning member 24 on the liquid ejection surface 22, a liquid drop is ejected preliminarily from a liquid ejection nozzle 23 toward the cap member 21. Subsequently, under a state where the cap member 21 retreated from the liquid ejection surface 22, a liquid drop is ejected preliminarily from the liquid ejection nozzle 23 toward a platen plate immediately before the liquid is ejected toward the ejection object. Consequently, cleaning effect of the liquid ejection nozzle 23 is enhanced and liquid ejection performance is stabilized or enhanced for individual ejection objects. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
