PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical method for purification of serum albumin in high yield and in high purity, especially for mass purification of human serum albumin, and to provide a high purity serum albumin obtained by the method. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the method for purification of a recombinantly produced serum albumin comprising a series of steps, optionally by incubation with an anion-exchange adsorbent, followed by affinity chromatography employing a hydrophobic immobile phase and using a water-soluble lipid anion as a desorbent in the aqueous phase.
