PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recording images without missing a precious chance of photographing by effectively avoiding deterioration in mobility with respect to an image pickup device such as a camera incorporated video tape recorder. SOLUTION: A result of image pickup DV1 is successively and circularly recorded into a defined storage means 16, and the result of image pickup DV1 of a defined time just before starting to record the result of image pickup DV1 into a recording medium 2 is held in this recording medium 16.
