PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify constitution and reduce a cost, in an internal combustion engine provided with a secondary air feed system and an EGR system. SOLUTION: It is formed as a secondary air feed system that secondary air piping is connected to the part, situated on the side further upper stream than a catalyst, of an exhaust pipe 24, and a secondary air pump 36 is situated at the upper stream part of the secondary air piping 35. In the secondary air piping 35, a check valve 37 and a control valve 38 are situated on the downstream side of the secondary air pump 36. Meanwhile, EGR piping 41 to intercommunicate the portion, situated between the check valve 37 and the control valve 38, of the secondary air piping 35 and a surge tank 16 is situated as an EGR system, and an EGR shut-off valve 42 is situated in the EGR piping 41. The secondary air piping 35 and the EGR piping 41 are commonly used at a connection part to the exhaust pipe 24, and the control valve 38 is situated at the common use part.
