PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission for a bicycle, which can lightly be operated in changing a speed, and can smoothly and precisely change the speed. SOLUTION: The transmission for the bicycle comprises a derailleur shaft 81 which is supported by a case member provided on a body frame and has a guide hole 81a formed therein, a derailleur arm 82 pivotally supported by the derailleur shaft 81 so as to move, a guide rotar 86 which is rotatably supported by the derailleur arm 82, and is wound with an endless transmission belt capable of being shifted between rotary elements which compose a speed changing rotar 50 and change a plurality of speed changing ratios, and an operation pin 65 which is connected to a wire 62 to advance and recede according to a speed changing operation and, and is fitted to the base end portion of the derailleur arm 82, and swivels by being guided by the guide hole 81a of the derailleur shaft 81. The derailleur arm 82 swivels with respect to the derailleur shaft 81 and is translated in the axial direction of the derailleur shaft 81 by moving the operation pin 65 so as to be guided by the guide hole 81a via the wire 62 by the speed changing operation.
