摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cermet made cutting tool with a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent abrasion resistance under high-speed deep cutting conditions. SOLUTION: The surface-coated cermet made cutting tool is formed by executing physical vapor deposition of the hard coating layer of 1-15μm in average layer thickness on the surface of a cermet made substrate constituted of cemented carbide or a cermet. The hard coating layer has a structure in which an aluminum oxide phase is dispersed and distributed on a substrate made of a compound nitride of Al, Ti, and Si at a rate of 1-15 area % in cross section observation by an Auger spectroscopic analyzer. The substrate has a component concentration distribution structure, in which the maximum content point of Al and that of Ti alternately and repeatedly exist along in the layer thickness direction at prescribed intervals and a content rate of Al and that of Ti from the maximum content point of Al to the maximum content point of Ti and from the maximum content point of Ti to the maximum content point of Al respectively continuously fluctuate. The maximum content point of Al satisfies a special composition formula. The interval between the adjacent maximum content points of Al and Ti is 0.01-0.1μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
