Disclosed is a tool for machining precision bores in workpieces. Said tool comprises a first machining stage that is provided with at least one geometrically defined cutting edge as well as a second machining stage which is provided with at least one honing strip encompassing geometrically undefined cutting edges. The inventive tool is characterized in that the first machining stage is provided with at least three support zones that are disposed at a distance from each other in the circumferential direction. Said at least three support zones are embodied and arranged so as to rest against the wall of the precision bore during machining thereof.
