A vehicle air conditioner includes a compressor and variable-volume compressor in a freezing cycle, means for operating the variable-volume compressor, compressor operation switching means for switching the operation of the compressor and the variable-volume compressor, and variable-volume compressor feed forward volume value calculation means for calculating a volume control value of the variable-volume compressor as an input to the freezing cycle so as to obtain a target control volume after the compressor operation is switched. After the operation is switched from the compressor to the variable-volume compressor, the variable-volume compressor is started according to the variable-volume compressor feed forward volume value calculated. When the coolant flow amount of the freezing cycle is greatly changed upon operation switching between the compressor and the variable-volume compressor, it is possible to suppress deterioration of the pleasant feeling of passengers.
