<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader in which a power cable does not interfere with the installation or the like of the main body of the card reader. <P>SOLUTION: A card reader 1 including an inlet 4 for connecting the power cable 3 comprises: a lower case 7 for housing a power supply part and a peripheral device which is disposed linearly; an upper case for housing a card reader part; and a recessed part 9 for allowing the power cable 3 to be inserted therein, the power cable 3 being to be connected to the inlet 4.
