PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber having a base end part connected to a light source and a tip part arranged on a medical treatment portion, to be used together with a laser device including a light energy source. SOLUTION: This optical fiber includes a core having the base end portion, the tip portion and the tip face close to its tip part, a clad layer for covering the core in the radial direction from the core base end portion to the periphery of the core tip portion, a sleeve comprising essentially a prescribed kind of material, for covering the clad layer in the radial direction, and a tip diffuser for covering the core tip portion in the radial direction. The tip diffuser includes a light scattering material formed by using substantially the same kind of material as the sleeve.
