PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for drying a film that has a small amount of orientation in a polymer chain and can dry the film without generating appearance flaw, such as rivelling, and to provide a method for drying the film using the support in drying by a sheet, such as a film, containing a solvent and moisture. SOLUTION: The support for drying film has a retention section for retaining the film, and allows the retentions section to travel following the shrinkage of the film in drying or allows the film to travel at the retention section. The retention section should be composed of a roller or a ball installed at the support, the retention section should be composed of a spring installed at the support, or the surface tension on the contacting surface with the film is preferably 30 mN/m or smaller.
