ROLLING BEARING AND ITS DESIGN METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a rolling fatigue life of a thrust ball bearing used for a toroidal-type continuously-variable transmission. SOLUTION: Balls 10 of the thrust ball bearing 20 supporting a thrust load applied to a power roller 5 of the toroidal-type continuously-variable transmission are made of the type 2 high carbon chromium bearing steel (SUJ2), and the SUJ2 steel does not contain non-metallic inclusion exceeding length of 0.5 mm in the range of a depth of 1 mm from a rolling surface of a bearing ring.
