PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cooling a continuous casting mold having a molten metal level indicator, which apparatus can detect a molten metal level without vertically moving the molten metal level indicator in the mold, and does not immerse the molten metal level indicator into the molten metal even when the molten metal level has risen. SOLUTION: The apparatus for cooling the continuous casting mold having the molten metal level indicator comprises a casting mold cooling apparatus 4 for cooling the continuous casting mold 1 into which molten steel 2 is poured, an electromagnetic agitator 3 having an electromagnetic coil for carrying out electromagnetic stirring for the molten steel in the continuous casting mold, and the molten metal level indicator 9 for detecting the molten metal level in the casting mold on the upper portion of the continuous casting mold 1. In the casting mold cooling apparatus 4, a water supplying header 11 for supplying cooling water is arranged in the longitudinal direction on one side surface of the electromagnetic agitator 3, and a water discharging header 12 for collectively discharging the cooling water is arranged in the longitudinal direction on the other side surface of the electromagnetic agitator 3, and the water supplying header 11 and the water discharging header 12 are connected by means of a plurality of cooling water passages 13 arranged in the lateral direction along the continuous casting mold 1, and the cooling water passages 13 are arranged between the electromagnetic agitator 3 and the continuous casting mold 1 so as to abut on the continuous casting mold 1.
