PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that works and dummy balls mixed with each other cannot be separated nor sorted with high precision and high efficiency by a conventional separating and sorting means such as a gradient feeder method, an air blow method or a sieving method and also, the apparatuses for all the above methods, since they occupy a large space, can be hardly installed in front of or behind the process for producing chips. SOLUTION: This apparatus for separating and sorting the works and dummy balls is provided to solve the problem with the following: a conveyance plate set with inclination is provided so as to continuously or intermittently vibrate; a separating block having stairs-like steps with one or more steps formed is provided on a slope descending from a top part set, at a part of the lower side of a conveyance surface of the conveyance plate, higher than the conveyance surface towards the conveyance surface; and a separating wire is installed at a mid position of the conveyance surface where works are conveyed while being vibrated as to intersect the conveyance surface so that the works and the dummy balls are separated and sorted according to the above separating block and the separating wire.
