The invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to refining and modifying melts. The inventive method for refining and modifying an iron-carbon melt consists in continuously introducing a refining and modifying mixture in the bottom of a reservoir at a temperature equal to or higher than 1300 DEG C, said reservoir being filled with the iron-carbon melt. Said refining and modifying mixture comprises rear-earth metals, and oxides and/or carbonates of barium, calcium, magnesium, borate ore, aluminium and silicon at the following component ratio in mass %: 1-10, 50-70, 2-5, 5-20 and 20-35, respectively, the rate thereof ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 kg/t. Said method makes it possible to simultaneously carry out the refining and modification of the iron-carbon melt associated with a developed reaction surface during a long time and to ensure a low sulphur content in the fine-grained iron-carbon melt, a relatively low contamination of steel by non-metallic impurities and favourable graphite shape in iron. |
