The separating out process for a stack (7) involves lifting part of the stack from the remainder with a lifting device (18), stopping the lifting part with a stopping device (12), introducing and open fork-type grip (13) with its lower part (16) in the gap between the part of the stack and the remainder. The grip is taken through the entire stack with the lower part of the fork floating. The lower part of the fork is blocked and the grip is closed.
