Disclosed are functionalized styrol/olefin block copolymers having a degree of functionalization ranging between 0.02 and 10 percent by weight, styrol/olefin block copolymers having a melt flow rate MFR (230 DEG C/2.16 kg) of 200 g/10 min to MFR (300 DEG C/2.16 kg) < 0.2 g/10 min (according to ISO 1133) being used as a polymer backbone. Said styrol/olefin block copolymers are functionalized by grafting the solid phase of a,ss-ethylenically unsaturated functional monomers comprising carboxyl groups, anhydride groups, or epoxy groups, which are optionally mixed with a comonomer, particularly styrol, that is free of functional groups, optionally using an organic peroxide as a radical former, the dry-fluid consistency of the reaction mixture being maintained at a final reaction temperature TR ranging between 100 and 200 DEG C. The graft-modified styrol/olefin block copolymers are provided with a high degree of functionalization and are characterized by an improved level of mechanical properties and a high thermal load-carrying capacity (low fogging values) in a large variety of uses as a self-adhesive coating material on different surfaces and materials, as a component or separate layer in thermoplastic multilayer films and laminates, or as a compatibility agent in different polymer blends and polymer composites. |
