A cable puller for cable-laying apparatus comprises a housing with a plurality of passages through it for cables (18) being laid. Cables passing through the device run closely adjacent driven rollers (62, 72) and can be individually urged against the driven rollers to idler rollers (65, 75) mounted on pivoting arms (66, 76), to cause the cables to be pulled through the device by the driven rollers. Screw devices (44, 46) are provided for urging individual idler rollers into contact with a cable to be drawn through the device.
