The method involves making a blade body (4) that possesses a free edge (8) near position of a cutting edge. The body has dimensions lower than that of the blade. A sharpening material powder (11) is blown over the free edge and is subjected to laser beam (12), for forming a sharpening material cord (14). The cutting edge is made by machining or grinding the sharpening material cord. An independent claim is also included for a cutting tool e.g. knife, pair of chisels, saw, household apparatus or industrial machine, including a blade.
