PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt-type continuous plate making apparatus which can stably produce a good polymer plate while preventing the boiling and foaming of a raw material and a method for the apparatus. SOLUTION: In the belt-type continuous plate making apparatus, the polymerizable raw material is supplied from one end into a space surrounded by the facing belt surfaces of two facing endless belts 1 and 1' and a gasket 7 held between the belt surfaces located in its both side edge parts and polymerized in a section for heating/cooling the belts by using warm water, and the polymer plate is taken out from the other end. The apparatus has three or more recovery containers 13 for recovering the warm water used for the heating/cooling and temperature detection terminals (thermometers 14) for measuring the temperature of the recovered hot water of each recovery container 13. In the belt-type continuous plate making method, the polymer plate is produced from the raw material containing methyl methacrylate by using the apparatus while the temperature of the recovered warm water of each recovery container 13 is measured by the thermometers 14.
