Disclosed herein are a colorant compound represented by the following general formula (1): wherein R₁ and R₂ are the same or different from each other and denote a linear alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R₃ is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and An^- is a counter anion, an ink comprising the colorant compound, and an ink tank, a recording unit, a recording apparatus and a recording process comprising or using the ink.
