PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a methylurea compound, capable of producing the methylurea compound expressed by formula (2) with good selectivity, without using methyl isocyanate having problems with respect to availability and safety. SOLUTION: This method for producing the methylurea compound comprises a process (a) for reacting an N-methylcarbamic acid compound expressed by formula (1) (Ar is an aromatic residue which may be substituted with a sustituent other than amino; and (n) is an integer of 1 to 3) with ethylenediamine in an excessive amount, so as to obtain a reaction liquid containing the methylurea compound expressed by formula (2) and the unreacted ethylenediamine, and a process (b) for concentrating the reaction liquid, removing the ethylenediamine in the reaction liquid, and taking out the methylurea compound expressed by formula (2).
