摘要 <p>A liquid crystal display device comprising a ferroelectric liquid crystal, in which monodomain alignment of ferroelectric liquid crystal can be realized without formation of alignment defects, such as double domain, and in which disordering of alignment is not likely to occur even when the temperature is raised to phase transition temperature or above to thereby ensure excellent alignment stability. There is provided a liquid crystal display device characterized by being obtained by providing not only a reactive liquid crystal side substrate comprising a first substrate, an electrode layer superimposed on the first substrate, a first alignment film superimposed on the electrode layer and a reactive liquid crystal layer superimposed on the first alignment film and consisting of a reactive liquid crystal immobilized but also a counter substrate comprising a second substrate, an electrode layer superimposed on the second substrate and a second alignment film superimposed on the electrode layer, arranging so that the reactive liquid crystal layer of the reactive liquid crystal side substrate and the second alignment film of the counter substrate are opposed to each other, and interposing a ferroelectric liquid crystal between the reactive liquid crystal side substrate and the counter substrate.</p>
