PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical range sensor capable of correctly obtaining output signals proportional to a distance in a range-finding range and obtaining high range accuracy over the whole range-finding range. SOLUTION: This optical range sensor is provided with a light emitting element 11 for emitting a light, a floodlight focusing means 13 for focusing the light emitted from the light emitting element 11 and irradiating a range object, a light-receiving focusing means 14 for focusing the reflected light from the range object, and a light-receiving element 12 arranged so that the light receiving surface is perpendicular to the optical axis of the light emitted from the light emitting element 11 and receiving the reflected light focused by the light-receiving focusing means 14. A single lens of which the curvature is progressively changed in the direction of an angleθfrom the optical axis so that the amount of change of the distance to the range object from the above floodlight focusing means 13 is proportional to the amount of movement of a light spot on the light receiving surface of the light-receiving element 12 is used for the light-receiving focusing means 14.
