PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system whereby a user knows the cause of the halt of an own car when the own car stops behind another car, by receiving a photographed image of the road ahead from the head vehicle. SOLUTION: When the own car stops, the system determines whether or not the car is the head car 1-1 in a line of cars. If the own car is the head car 1-1, it transmits an image photographing the road ahead as a photographed image of the road ahead. If the own car is a succeeding car 1-2, it outputs the photographed image of the road ahead received from the head car 1-1 to an information output part 5-2 (in response to the stop of the own car). This arrangement can show the cause of the stop to a driver 4 who wonders why he/she can not travel, when the driver's car 1 has to stop behind another car. The driver 4 who has now known the factor for the stop from the photographed image of the road ahead received from the head car 1-1 accepts the situation since the factor for the stop has become clear, saying "I have no alternative" in light of the past experience, and can wait until the factor for the stop is removed.
