MULTIBEAM OPTICAL SCANNER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrange a beam form by reducing unevenness of a light quantity caused by angular dependency of transmittance. SOLUTION: A multibeam optical scanner is provided with: a light source 3 for emitting long form polarized rays; and a diaphragm 10 for converging the rays from the light source 3. An opening part 10a of the diaphragm 10 is formed in the shape of a long hole and the direction of the major axis of the long hole opening part 10a is set to the minor-axis direction of the rays from the light source 3, and also the opening part of the diaphragm is extended and formed even outside an area specified by 1/e2to the peak intensity of the rays. The polarizing directions of the rays emitted from respective light sources 3 are arranged symmetrical or almost symmetrical to each other with respect to the straight line extended in the direction of subscanning.
