PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a vinyl-based polymer by polymerizing a vinyl-based monomer using a continuous tank-type reactor, by which a high-quality vinyl-based polymer is obtained while preventing an increase in by-product, a yellowish color of resin, abnormal polymerization of resin, etc. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a vinyl-based polymer comprises continuously supplying a raw material containing a vinyl-based monomer to the continuous tank-type reactor (A), continuously extracting a vinyl-based polymer composition (B) formed in the continuous tank-type reactor (A) and storing the composition in a vessel (C) while polymerizing the monomer at≥160°C polymerization temperature and subjecting a residual monomer in the vinyl-based polymer composition (B) in the vessel (C) to polymerization reaction, the temperature of the polymer composition (B) in the vessel (C) is≤160°C when the polymer composition (B) is stored in the vessel (C).
